Google Cloud Messaging

Hello everyone! I think this question was asked almost a hundred times and also, every response says that MIT App Inventor 2 does not support Google Cloud Messaging or Push Notifications for Android.

BUT, I found this document on Google, called: "Unlocking Smartphone Data for Educational Use in Teaching and Learning Environment", you can find it HERE. Please look at section 3 and 3.2 where it writes about these notifications.

Also, I think I once found a video on Youtube about this, but it wasn't specific on how to achieve those notifications.

I think GCM is a very good and interesting API that is used on almost every app now, and MIT App Inventor should take this into consideration - Maybe you will say this is free and a bunch of guys are supporting it but, what the hell, if they are good why not make MIT even better?

Regarding GCM, maybe we could integrate somehow some API's who can give us free notifications, as Push or RZLTS?

Things get added to App Inventor as time permits and when other issues are resolved.

Push notifications are on the planning board, but there's no definite ETA.  I can't speak for the addition Google Cloud Messaging, but there is a place where you can add your wishes and dreams ;)!  App Inventor Issues List
