Am attempting to use emulator for first time. D/loaded emul. program and installed but was old version. tried to update from Mit website and was çonnecting'bit error message says "Parse error, there was a problem parsing the package."
Any thoughts on a fix?

This "parsing error" isn't really a parsing error. Typically is happens when the phone doesn't have enough memory to download the app.
Try uninstalling a couple of apps and see if that fixes it. (Also check on the phone how much free memory there is.)
