How to prevent from going back to their original width after 1 second

I want to make this code work. I want this code to make the paddles get wider when touched but the go back to their original width after 1 second how do I do it?

Try including a clock with an interval set at 1000ms, Start the timer when the paddle is touched and prevent the repetition of the block until the timer goes off.
