This has been an ongoing issue. I have an app on Google Play (Graph-O-Doodle) in which I save canvas drawings. If the user exits the app and looks in the gallery it is not there until the device is rebooted. I have a message to this effect in the app, but was hoping it could be corrected. Another developer has just had the same problem and confirmed that the same thing happens on his device. Note that this has nothing to do with the saved canvas being available in App Inventor right after a canvas Save or SaveAs when the path to the file is known. That known path can be used immediately to open the saved canvas. This issue applies only to the image being available in the Gallery or being visible on the sdcard in general only after rebooting the device.

Download the App "Gallery Refresh" from the Google Play Store
Use an ActivityStarter to start this App right after the saving process. The Gallerie is refreshed now. Then you close the RefreshGallery App with the back-button on your device and get back to your AI App. There the Gallery now shows the saved canvas drawings.
The only problem i could not solve is, that the ActivitStarter only starts the Refresh-App. you have to start the refreshing process manually by hitting the refresh button in the galleryRefresh-App.
