Missing some app's graphical component in phone

I am facing a serious problem. Some graphical components of my app like button images, icons, backgrounds are missing when i am trying to use my app in my phone and each time i install the app in my phone,a different set of graphical components seem lost.I have made many apps in the past, tested them with my same phone but its happening for the first time. Please help me....

there seems to be an issue with the build server currently?
as workaround I can offer to try one of the personal servers and build your app on your own computer...

is it a temporary problem or permanent problem in the build server?

This appears to be some kind of Google problem. Most of your assets may have"disappeared" from Google's Cloud store. Because your project still thinks they were there, internal errors may be  happening.

Something you could do, is remove all your images (the missing ones) from your Media (resources) for this project.  You should upload them again (presumably you have the original images) and things should then work again.  Rebuild the APK , remove the present apk from your device and load the re-compiled apk (after you have redone your images).

Did that help?

I would have re uploaded the disapperaing images much earlier but the problem is that everytime i compile the app,a different set of images are getting disappeared like the images missing last time are visible in the next try and the images that were present last time are found missing...we are really confused....

Thanks for the additional information.  Some is very wrong.  This issue as been forwarded to the MIT Technical Team.   It does NOT appear that all users are affected.  For the moment, you can try reloading an aia (with a different project name) and see if that works or be patient and wait until a Technical Team persons posts.

The moderators have limited ability to monitor the build server and run diagnostics.  At the moment, the servers we can monitor show "normal" operation.

Be patient.

Thank you.I can just pray for now.........

At the moment, two of the eight servers are at very near capacity.  There are MANY people using AI2 today; that may be part of the issue. 2:48 pm UTC

so i think i should wait..............

They're looking into the issues right now...

am i the only one facing this problem?

No, there is a problem with Google's cloud services, upon which AI relies... They're working on adding a build server now.  This is due probably to the huge number of students cramming to get their projects done for finals...  The loads on the servers now are EXTREMELY high...

Ok....Thanks for the info dude...i just hope all this issue gets sorted out soon............

Is the problem fixed?I am asking this because i am thinking to re-upload all the assets of my app.But before that, could anyone please tell me whats the current situation of the Google cloud problem?has it been fixed or not?

I still have the problem. On the Splash Screen they said that it was fixed . What now?

Did you reload your images into Media (resources)?      If not reload your images and try again.  Then let us know if you still have issues or not.  Thanks.

Part of the message on the AI2 splash screen says:

Some projects lost assets (images, sounds, etc.). When this happens the project becomes corrupt and won’t load.
Although we cannot recover any assets that were lost, we are working on a modification to App Inventor that will permit your project to load, even if assets were lost. You will have to re-upload the assets and then your project should be fine.

This means if you lost assets, you will have to delete whatever is now in your media and replace it with your original image files (hope you have them).

This problem resulted from a problem with Google's Cloud (that MIT uses to store your images).  The problem is probably fixed, but users will have to reload their images themselves.  Sorry.

Try reloading...let us know how it goes.

Still the problem is there.I removed all my assets, then re-uploaded them but still some graphical components are missing in my app on phone.........Now i am feeling really tensed....

OK, thank you for testing.  Your experience is being forwarded to the MIT Technical Team Rajet.   Why the fix does not work with your app, I do not know.
What is the name of your project?     Perhaps the Tech team can do something for you since the recommended 'fix' does not appear to be working.

You have to be patient.  Please wait for a reply from someone at MIT.

let me recommend the following method to replace your assets:
download your aia file and open it using 7zip, open the assets folder and replace all images with length = 0 with the correct images, then upload the aia file to App Inventor and try again

Taifun I tried that but the problem persists.
The project name is ANMBeasy. I have it posted on Google Play with some of the graphics missing. Steve can you forward my problem too please?

download one of the personal servers and try there Ai2LiveComplete by Hossein

I was able to confirm that assets are not always available when we go and fetch from from the Google Cloud Store. But they appear to re-appear. This is probably a Google problem and we will have to investigate it with them.

Yes thats true, the assets are disappearing in random order..Each time a different set is lost..My project name is MIET_IT_INFO......

I was able to reproduce this with a new, very simple project.  As Jeff said, this is probably a Google Cloud thing, but we'll know more tomorrow...

Taifun,i just tried the alternative you said about .aia file and 7zip..but this time,a different set of images is lost which was not having length=0 previously....Not working dude

Also I have the same problems. They are two different problems. I have not read communications MIT on erasing blocks but only for the media in the project. I hope for a solution.

@vanshika, using 7zip to update your assets is just a much simpler method to update several assets at once instead of uploading them one by one to App Inventor
But as there are still problems with the Google Cloud Storage, this method obviously can't help here

But if you use an offline server, everything you are doing in App Inventor can be done without internet connection. Therefore a problem in the Google Cloud Storage can't effect your app.
Of course, an offline server can't repair a corrupted app. You should start with a clean project...

Vanshika and me have been working on the same app since one month. We were almost done with our work but this problem has created problem for us.We won't be able to make a fresh start. We can just wait and pray..............

Guys, MIT is working on a solution.  When will this be solved?  Perhaps today but possibly within a week.

Many users, but not all, are experiencing this issue.  We are sorry it is affecting you guys.

A question: do you have any images or other assets in your Media that are not being used in the actual app?

We won't be able to make a fresh start. We can just wait and pray..............

you do not have to make a fresh start
If I were you, I would make sure to have a clean project (i.e. project file including all the assets) and use an offline server to continue the work, but of course you also can wait and pray...

I would NOT start over.... Be patient as the team is working hard on this.  Make sure your assets on your own computer are protected in case you have to reload them, and keep all of your AIA files.

Then, be patient... this WILL get resolved.  Right now, if you start over, you'll probably encounter the same problem even on a new project.

Keep checking the splash screen on AI2 for updates.. there should be a few today.

You could also do as Taifun suggests by using an offline server.

Go get a nice breakfast, do something else you're behind on for the time being, and then get back and check this afternoon.  This WILL be fixed... it's just when that we can't say.

It works better now, only one asset is missing everytime .
If this can help you, I found one asset wich wasn't in use by the blocks and I deleted it. I dont know if that was the problem.
For now it\s ok , I can wait longer for a fix.

Thank you so much Enis .That was so nice of you.By the way, i also made another attempt and this time it worked.Only one asset was missing.I am contented to greater extent now. Thanks to MIT technical team and specially to Enis,Steve and Taifun

Thanks for the report.   We at MIT don't know what is causing this and Jeff will be doing more investigation this afternoon.  Our best guess is that it's something in Google Cloud Storage, but that's just a guess.

I've been facing the same problem since last Thursday with an App which is the result of a pan-European crowdcoding experiment called flagshipgame http://flagshipgame.eu/
After several attempts I was able to make it work again by removing the icon. I don't know if this can help finding the solution.
In any case, I look forward to hearing from you soon to put the icon back and to resume the development.

The situation is getting worse each day.My app is actually 5 MB in size but now, whenever i download it to my laptop, the size reduces to about 2.5 MB,with most of my assets lost.

Rajet, consider just stopping working on your app until the issue is fixed.  That is what I decided to do.    You could use one of the personal servers described in several places by Taifun..I feel that is more trouble than it is worth but it might be an option you want to consider.

You ARE going to continue to have more problems with AI2 until MIT is able to fix the issue (unless you use a personal server).

When the issue is fixed, the red splash screen on Ai2 will disappear.  Everyone will know AI2 is fixed at that time and at the moment, no one knows when the situation with Google Cloud will be solved.   Yes, it is frustrating but it is the way the World is at the moment.

Your app is 5MB, if your aia is 5Mb you reached the size limit for a normal AI2 app and should expect corruption and strange things.   You are ignoring the advice on the splash screen...it says you might continue to develop but you will probably continue to have issues.
