well , I need to make an app where i will post ,up coming events and the users of the app will be notified instantly when they open the app , only i will be able upload events and the users would just be able to receive information of that up coming event nothing else.

push notifications also alert the user in case the app is not running... probably you do not need taht feature?
and the users of the app will be notified instantly when they open the app
in this case you also could try the FirebaseDB
