Phones for testing

I am completely new to AI. I have little money for my students, and would like to purchase a phone for them to plug in to test their apps. Could someone recommend a cheap phone that doesn't require a contract (we won't be using it for making calls). Would this one work?

This is an Android 2.3 phone.   It would work.   20$ + 7/month ...enjoy it for the required 90 days and see what happens.   I expect that when the contract expires, you will have issues.  Will it run with USB,  check for USB drivers .  there is this link which gives hope you will not have drive issues with this phone

Download LG Optimus Dynamic (LG L38C) USB Drivers

.... the add says FOR USE WITH TRACFONE SERVICE ONLY   so it may not work with out the month to month contract.   With WIFI, you probably will be charged minutes, perhaps not.

This add has a question answer section.  Why not ask there? ... perhaps someone has experience with Trac phones not in paid service and they can relate their experiences.  What applies to their other phones probably also applies to this specific phone.

From the comments I saw at

You are going to have to remove all Google Play updates to save on its very limited internal memory.

However, AI often releases new versions of its Companion app to Google Play.

You are looking for something for class room use, where you will not be able to lock it down
from students trying to go to the Play Store.

This looks very risky.
It's good for a personal throw-away, but I would not risk it for classroom use.
Expect a lot of aggravation over the internal memory.

Also, the version 2.3 looks like it will limit its life time.

Also, does your class room have WiFi and IT people to adjust firewall support?

Thanks so much for your response!
