Is there some standard for arranging the blocks so they don't get so confusing to look at?
No... by right clicking on any white area of the Blocks screen, you can change the way you view the blocks. You can rename blocks to anything you want. Some professionals use a convention of renaming labels lblFirstOne, and Buttons btnTurnOn etc. ...stuff like that is one way some programmers are taught to control their code.
it is recommended to collapse all blocks and open only those, you are currently working on
